While the product is a few years old now, it is still probably one of the most powerful streaming devices out. As I bought an OLED tv and set up Dolby Atmos for my home theatre, I wanted the best quality for my media (rather than the cheaper option). I can say it was worth it and I’m glad I spend the extra money.

Great player would have given it a 5/5 if there wasn't an issue with the power supply still recommend but keep your receipt or look up you power supply online to get another. Know issue with the device Nidia is usually good for replacement. As for the player itself amazing plays all my own home server movies and has all the streaming apps in the store runs on Android. Solid unit fast play back.

Wickedly fast streaming device. Quality is mint. Old hardware that is still way ahead of its time. Works well.

Honestly a nice piece of hardware. It may be old technology, but still has better features than what’s being offered in other streaming devices now. Very impressed when I got it. But….. It’s a Google product and THEY think they own it. Once set up and working it updated itself to a new firmware and became locked down. Device experience is now ruined, google blocking side loaded apps. Was a very expensive experience. I thought android devices were open to do what I want with it…. NO.

You do need good internet I know because I had copper to the house at first and it was lagging and couldn't have graphics set hi then I was lucky enough to go to fibre to the house and now I wish I hadn't brought a playstation 5 should have gotten 2 of these instead the games can be difficult to install at first but once you have learnt to do it it's just a little bit of hassle compared to a playstation

I've used this shield to replace a HTPC, the system works well, a little tricky if you want to setup your own media library from an external USB Drive. using the included software"Plex" you can do it but, it never tells you that you have to plug the USB it into the shield, givesheild access to it, then use a PC to connect to your plex account over the internet and connect the storage drive/media library (that took me a while to figure out). *.mkv files do play via plex, but with some loss, plex wants you to pay an monthly fee to convert the files so there is no loss of quality, its not worth it in my opinion. the Sheild i purchased had been already opened, there were finger prints all over the device and no documentation at all, there has not been any issue with it so far other than the remote not working until it had been rebooted and reset 10 times., but if i wanted a second hand unit, i could have saved $150 and got one on FB market place. *yes i would recommend this a a replacement to your HTPC, *if you sort your movies into folders, and use the "folder.jpg" system for thumbnails, delete all your folder.jpg's or Plex wont download the correct cover art. small thing, but it looks allot better. * even with the Shield turned off, you can still access your media library (from LAN or Internet) as it keeps power on to the USB drive, handy feature.

Great Reliable Android Set Top Box - bought after using some alternate android media device, which was full of issues. Nvidia ShieldPro even though may be outdated in 2025, but still reliable and super fast performing media device. Even the remote is very convenient to use. Whether streaming the media or playing locally from attached HDD, whether playing fullHD or 4K quality, on every occasion didn't miss the beat and performed seamless. The DTS and Dolby outputs work perfectly. Overall very happy with Nvidia ShieldPro TV and happy to recommend to try.

• Simple to use, but for real proficiency there's a learning curve. •Software on these has recently been updated (January 2025), which was a nice surprise and means Nvidea still cares about their product. •It may be expensive for most buyers, but security is way better than the cheaper devices which it is said, have 'back door' entry into your network. •A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can be connected if needed. •The NETFLIX button is an absolute "pita" if not using Netflix, but there are ways to prevent accidental button knock. •I bought my 2nd one using price matching* and a voucher**, which TGG's undercut* and honoured**. In my opinion the apps on these function better than the android apps on my 2023 LG OLED TV. Also read reviews from elsewhere.

The Nvidia SHIELDPRO 4K Stream Android Media Player is a high-performance streaming device for demanding users and home entertainment enthusiasts. It excels at 4K HDR streaming, AI-enhanced upscaling, and supports a wide range of apps and formats. Ideal for smart homes and gamers, its only limitation is the 16GB internal storage, which may require external expansion for large media libraries.
Internal storage is limited to 16GB, so users with large local libraries may need to add external USB storage.
9/10 - Supports all major streaming apps and a wide range of Android TV applications.
Works with any TV with HDMI input; enhances non-smart TVs with full smart features.
8/10 - Simple guided setup, but advanced features may require some technical know-how.
Multiple user profiles and parental controls available; suitable for households with kids.
8/10 - Backlit remote with voice search and customisable buttons for easy navigation.
A: The SHIELD TV Pro is the higher-spec model. It has 3GB RAM, 16GB storage and two USB 3.0 ports, which makes it better suited to Plex Media Server, expandable storage and USB accessories than the smaller tube-style SHIELD TV.
A: Yes. This model supports AI-enhanced upscaling to 4K at 60 FPS, so lower-resolution content can look cleaner on a 4K screen. It improves supported video, but it does not turn every low-quality source into true native 4K detail.
A: Yes. It supports Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio, with DTS-X pass-through over HDMI as well. To get those formats, the TV, soundbar or AV receiver, app and the title itself all need to support the same standard.
A: Yes. The built-in storage is 16GB, and this model can be expanded using USB flash drives or external hard drives through its two USB 3.0 ports. That is useful if you want more room for apps, local media or Plex libraries.
A: Yes. It includes Gigabit Ethernet for a wired network connection and also supports dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Ethernet is usually the better choice for large local media files and more stable 4K streaming.
A: Yes. The Pro version is designed to support Plex Media Server, which can be useful if local media is stored on USB drives or a network source. Its 3GB RAM and USB 3.0 ports make it a better fit for that role than lighter streamers.
