Good Everyday Video Doorbell
The doorbell was straightforward to install, with all the mounting hardware and a drilling template included in the box. Even though I had to drill into the wall, the installation took less than 30 minutes. I recommend connecting the doorbell to your Wi-Fi and completing the setup in the Tapo app before mounting it. Using the live view makes it easier to choose the best installation height. Setting up both the doorbell and the included chime took around 5–10 minutes. Before installation, it's worth fully charging the battery. I left mine charging overnight. The app is easy to use, and the battery indicator provides a clear view of the remaining charge. The 2K camera produces a clear image during the day. At night, having a separate light source near the entrance helps improve image quality. Because there's a lot of movement on my street, I turned off motion notifications for the doorbell to reduce battery usage. I already have a Tapo solar-powered battery camera covering motion detection, so I use the doorbell mainly for visitor notifications. I also connected the doorbell to several Alexa Echo devices. When someone presses the doorbell, both the included chime and the Echo speakers announce that someone is at the door. I haven't set up live video on my Echo Show yet, as it requires a few extra steps, but notifications on the Tapo app are working as expected.
