    Easy setup

Router took onlya few minutes to set up, and speed on nbn 500/50 plan is much faster than my old router. Would have been good to have some explanation in the setup sheet on what position the antennas should be set to.

    Easy install and NBN READY

Im not tech savvy at all so just setting up is what I need to be easy and this was as simple as unplugging the old and replacing with the new . Very simple to install and has easy guide instructions 😀 Although this product when buying does not have an NBN READY sticker on it .. it actually is non ready.

Shipping request ignored and mediocre modem

Disappointing delivery experience and average product performance I purchased this modem for my work-from-home setup, but the entire process was highly frustrating. I specifically requested delivery via AusPost because Team Global Express is notoriously unreliable in my area. Despite my explicit request, The Good Guys shipped it via Team Global Express anyway. True to form, the delivery was delayed, wasting a significant amount of my time and impacting my work. To make matters worse, they constantly mishandle deliveries even when given an Authority to Leave. As for the modem itself, it’s mediocre at best and doesn't live up to the hype. If The Good Guys keep ignoring customer shipping requests and using unreliable delivery partners, they are going to lose a lot of loyal customers.

Great Router for Multi-Storey Homes with Concrete Walls

I live in a dual-storey apartment with concrete walls and was looking for a router that could provide stronger Wi-Fi coverage throughout the unit. The router's signal was able to reach downstairs, but only to the area near the staircase. While my room could still detect the Wi-Fi network, the connection speed was quite slow. To solve the issue, I added a Wi-Fi extender, and it made a significant difference. I now have a stable connection throughout the apartment. If you live in a similar environment with multiple floors and concrete walls, I would highly recommend this router, especially when paired with a Wi-Fi extender for complete coverage. It has worked well for my setup.

Q: Can the TP-LINK AX5400 router replace a modem on an NBN connection?

A: No. The AX5400 is a router, not a modem, so it manages the home network but does not replace the modem or NBN connection device where one is still required. On FTTP and some HFC services it can connect directly to the NBN box via Ethernet.

Q: How fast is the TP-LINK AX5400 router in real use?

A: It is an AX5400 class dual-band router, which combines a theoretical 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 4804 Mbps on 5 GHz. Actual speeds are lower and depend on distance, walls, network congestion and whether the device supports Wi-Fi 6 and 160 MHz channels.

Q: Is this router suitable for a busy home with 4K streaming, gaming and lots of devices?

A: Yes. The AX5400 class and Wi-Fi 6 design suit households with many connected devices, including 4K streaming and gaming at the same time. Performance still depends on home layout and client device quality, so older Wi-Fi devices will not reach Wi-Fi 6 speeds.

Q: What kind of Wi-Fi range can the TP-LINK AX5400 router cover?

A: It is designed for wider coverage than older Wi-Fi 5 routers, making it a good fit for many medium to large homes. Real range varies with brick walls, concrete floors and room layout, so very large or multi-storey homes may still need a compatible mesh extender.

Q: Do you need a Wi-Fi 6 device to get the full benefit from this TP-LINK AX5400 router?

A: Yes. The router works with older Wi-Fi devices, but the main speed and efficiency gains come when the phone, tablet, laptop or console also supports Wi-Fi 6. To approach the fastest 5 GHz performance, the client also needs 160 MHz channel support.
